This is a silk-covered, ultra-sheik, best-ever baby bag in the world. Someday Baby will be so proud of mama for carrying such a bag. I forgot to take a shot of the super cute lining, so here's a shot of some leftover material:

I woke up this morning inspired to work out the bag from the previous post. And I did. So despite the wonderful comment by Chris, the offer is out the window. Sorry!!! When its finished, its still up for grabs. Let me know if any of you are interested in making a trade for it.


Update: I finished the back side of the bag, which looks like this now:I like the contrast between sweet and lovable to kind of sinister.

help!--a contest of sorts

Today I've been working on a new pattern for a tote bag. And I'm now stuck. I'm not really sure what I think of it and, therefore, have lost my desire to finish it. Here's where y'all come into the picture. Any ideas to improve the design? I'm thinking that I would put something on one of the front pockets. (I'm into sidewalk graffiti right now. I'm thinking it will have a nice "I [heart] sweatshop labor" stenciled on it in honor of the fact that the current heat wave has turned my house into exactly that: a steamy sweatshop.)

Here's what I'm thinking: The person who has the idea that pushes me over the edge into completing the pattern gets the first bag. Fun, huh? Here's the bag from the front:

It is sewn in natural colored cotton canvas and stitched with geranium red thread. (hey, that rhymed! Red... Thread...) I think it will have two handles; one attached to the front, and one to the back. That's up for grabs though. Maybe it would look better with just the one from side to side. I can print something on the back as well, but I just don't know what yet. See? I need some help.

So... Any ideas? Hmmm?

blue silk purse

This here purse is very special. It's made with blue dupioni silk that I got for 75% off by way of various discounts. Which, naturally, makes it that much better. The top picture doesn't show the color that well; it is an azure blue with nice silky texture. Oh, and Chloe likes it because it matches her eyes so well. (BTW-for those of you following the Chloe saga, she is healing well from her abscess and pretty much back to her perky self. I think this kitty was born with more than nine lives.)

So Sarah was just so jealous of my carpetbag I had to make one just for her! I toned it down and made it a little smaller, but it's the same basic design.

french carpet bag

So I like stealing ideas from people. Lately it's been etsy.com that I prowl for ideas. Generally, i tweek things quite a bit until I feel happy with the resulting pattern or style. But then there was this bag...

I copied it almost completely. Yeah, I had to use different fabric, etc., but it's a knock-off. I'm not quite done with it yet. I want to tack down the pleats in the darker fabric (which is sheer, thought it doesn't look that way in the photo). I also need to trim the stray strings that are left over and sew the darts on the back. Pretty nifty, eh? It will be great for those days when I feel the need to carry my kitchen sink with me. Nice.
